Shane Smith, MS

Shane Smith is a Research Analyst with 2M Research. He has experience in quantitative data analysis and facilitating data collection. For the National Science Foundation Fair Park Neighborhood Study which examined how neighborhood structural and physical conditions impact the well-being of individual residents, Mr. Smith directly supervised research assistants who were collecting data from approximately 26,000 households. He also managed some of the experimental studies performed within the localities. Mr. Smith gained subject matter experience from a community which houses some of the lowest income families within Dallas County. He has utilized his GIS background to test for spatial autocorrelation by applying spatial autoregressive analysis to Dallas juvenile arrest data. The ArcGIS platform was used to create county police patrol sectors shapefiles to plot juvenile arrest observations spatially, and to create a spatial weight matrix across school seasons. Mr. Smith is also experienced with data analysis and cleaning through STATA. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and Finance with a minor in Economics, a Graduate Certificate in Geographic Information Systems, and his Master of Science in Economics from The University of Texas at Dallas. He is currently contributing as a Data Analyst on a project with the U.S. Department of Agriculture Food and Nutrition Service where he synthesizes and tabulates survey data for research using STATA and SAS.
