Allison Magness, PhD, RD
Dr. Allison Magness is Senior Nutrition Scientist with 2M Research. She is a highly skilled program evaluator and project manager with expertise in public health, dietetics, and nutrition assistance programs.
Dr. Magness currently serves as the Subcontractor Project Director for USDA Food and Nutrition Services (FNS) Third National Survey of the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) Participants (NSWP-III). This study will provide nationally representative estimates of improper payments, WIC participants’ program experience, and state and local agency policies and operations. Dr. Magness leads recruitment activities for NSWP-III, which include establishing relationships with 22 WIC state agencies across the country. In addition, Dr. Magness recently serves as a Technical Expert for the Child Nutrition Reducing Burden Study, also sponsored by USDA FNS. Dr. Magness used her expertise with CN programs to provide technical guidance and support with the various project tasks and deliverables.
Prior to joining 2M, while at USDA FNS, Dr. Magness planned, designed, and managed research contracts totaling over $40 million that evaluated federal nutrition assistance programs, including the National School Lunch Program, Summer Food Service Program, Child and Adult Care Food Program, Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program, and the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children. Dr. Magness earned her Bachelor of Science in Nutrition and her PhD in Nutritional Sciences from the University of Texas at Austin and is a Registered Dietitian.
