Laurie Hinnant, PhD

Dr. Laurie Hinnant is the Senior Director of Public Health Research and Practice at 2M Research. Prior to joining 2M, she was a Senior Research Public Health Analyst with RTI International. Dr. Hinnant is a community health psychologist with more than 19 years of experience in the evaluation of federal, state, and local public health efforts. She has led numerous evaluations, overseeing multidisciplinary teams in the development and implementation of comprehensive evaluations and the interpretation and application of findings for program improvement. In addition to the design and implementation of evaluation studies, she has led or contributed to numerous technical reports, manuscripts, and conference presentations. Dr. Hinnant’s key areas of expertise include community- and health-related evaluation planning and implementation, qualitative research methods, community-based research and evaluation, and training and technical assistance. She has worked in a wide variety of public health content areas, including health and wellbeing, social determinants of health, diabetes prevention and control, obesity, asthma, physical activity and nutrition, tobacco prevention and control, skin cancer prevention and sun safety, and youth empowerment. She has wide-ranging field experience, traveling to and working with federal, state, and local program stakeholders for all aspects of evaluation implementation and to administer and assess technical assistance needs. Dr. Hinnant’s experience extends beyond her technical expertise, with extensive work in staff and program management, business development, strategic planning, and organizational development efforts. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Elon College and her Master of Science in Psychology and her PhD in Psychology from North Carolina State University.
