Hiren Nisar, PhD

Dr. Hiren Nisar is the Director of Analytics and Senior Economist for 2M’s Social, Behavioral, and Methodological Sciences and Education Research practice area. He has more than 12 years of experience in evaluation of economic programs and policies that aim to improve the economic and social wellbeing of children (students), youth, families, and workers. Dr. Nisar has directed research and provided technical assistance in a wide variety of areas including nutrition, education, labor, health, and job training, and has also served as project director, project investigator, and director of design and analysis on several program evaluations across these areas. He has expertise in applied econometrics and his prior research involved different empirical designs such as random assignment studies, non-experimental evaluations, and rapid-cycle evaluations to guide policy decision making. His experience in supporting evaluations includes managing the execution of project tasks; leading feasibility and impact evaluations; devising sampling strategies; developing, administering, and analyzing surveys and collecting and analyzing administrative data; complex quantitative analysis; coordinating and communication with clients and stakeholders; report/brief writing; and presenting findings to a diverse stakeholder audience. Dr. Nisar earned his bachelor’s degree in Engineering Computer Science from Mumbai University, a Master of Arts in Economics from the University of Wisconsin – Madison, Master of Science in Industrial Engineering and Operations Research from the University of California, and his PhD in Economics from University of Wisconsin – Madison.
